Get to know our
simple and transparent art purchasing process

Our Process

We’re connected to the most talented independent artists and reputable galleries around the country, and have the ability to find unique artworks that align with your specific tastes, needs, budget and timeline. Our art procurement process involves five phases from briefing through to installation, and can take anywhere from 4 weeks to several months depending on the ask. Our aim is to make art purchasing as simple and transparent as possible, so our clients can beautify their surroundings and expand their collection with confidence.

See below for an outline of each phase of our process:

Phase 1: Briefing (1-2 days)

At the outset of each partnership, we will schedule a one-hour briefing session with an Advisor. During this briefing, we’ll seek to understand the preferred types of artists, number of works, stylistic nuances, timings, and budget pertaining to a specific project or ask.

Once we understand the ask, you’ll receive a contract outlining scope of work, pricing, and recommended payment structure. We offer a number of payment structures including commission, retainer and project-fee models. We will work in whatever manner works best for you.

Phase 2: Research and Planning (1-2 week)

Once we understand your unique goals, we’ll kick off the research and planning phase. During this phase, you will receive:

  • Research Proposal outlining a variety of artists who best fit your budget and unique taste.

  • Detailed Inventory Report on available artworks by selected artists, across various galleries, auction houses and artists studios. This report will also include available information on museum purchases and historical prices.

  • Conceptual Space Planning: Visual aids for selected artworks including virtual renderings in your space, mood boards, and scaled floor plan layouts; to help you understand how the artworks will work in the space.

  • Sample prints or drafts for any custom artworks being developed .

  • Curatorial Storytelling: Ensuring that all proposed artworks integrate with the space and other pieces, to tell a cohesive story through imagery, visual themes and stylistic nuances.

  • Project Timeline: Outlining production, shipping, and installation timings for all proposed artworks.

Phase 3: Art Purchasing (1 week)

The need for a discerning eye and keen understanding of the often complex art purchasing process is paramount.

Once a shortlist of artworks/artists have been approved, we will take on the purchasing and curatorial process. This will include pricing negotiations, payment, shipping, installation, and short-term storage solutions as needed.

Phase 4: Production (2 or more weeks)

Once all artworks have been secured or ordered, the production process begins. We will work with you to ensure that all agreed upon deadlines are met throughout the process. Depending on the artwork being purchased, production may include:

  • Art Creation for any commissioned artworks that need to be drafted and produced from scratch

    • Once the sketches are approved, our artists will begin working on the artwork, allowing for review and alterations throughout the process for a truly transparent and collaborative experience.

  • Printing of any custom-ordered fine art reproductions

  • Professional framing, which may involve the use of standard framing options or custom frames that require special construction

  • Professional transportation or shipping of artwork to storage and/or its final destination, as needed

Phase 5: Delivery and Installation (1-3 days)

We work with trusted art installation experts to ensure museum-quality display of artwork in any space. When planning an installation, we take into account specific parameters such as room measurements, ideal viewing height, lighting, wall materials, and whether the installation should be treated as temporary or permanent.

We offer art installation as an option add-on service for all purchases, and can support installation requests for previously purchased artwork as well.
